It’s been such fun having a contest each week! I thank you all for your participation as I celebrated my one-year blogiversary! This week is the final contest.

I had a hard time deciding just what I would giveaway this week. I wanted it to be something related to my Friday posts – Recipe Box. After much thought I decided I would giveaway something that related to all four of the various posts I write, a Ball Enamel Waterbath Canner with a 4 piece utensil set and The Ball Complete Book of Canning. You can be frugal and learn to preserve your garden’s bounty, you can plan your garden with the thought of having extra to preserve, You’ll be stocking your pantry and there are so many wonderful recipes relating to canning!

    awesome giveaway, I still have yet to learn to can, my mom always did that part, we always had the cutting and straining part as kids, not the “cooking” part. This would be great to can some tomatoes:)

    I would like to replace the hand-me-down rusted out one that I have… I couldn’t figure out why it always seems to lose all of its water over the course of canning, but it turns out that rusty pinholes DO leak water, go figure :) !

    The Ball model (pictured above) is the kind of canner recommended for an electric stove (which has the coil heating elements) BECAUSE the bottom of the Ball brand is completely flat (as opposed to the water bath canners that have a ridged bottom…as I understand these are to be used on gas stoves). I think the flat bottom canner makes better contact with the coiled heating element on electric stoves…that’s my understanding anyway. This is a very nice canner!

    I love canning. It just warms my heart and my home with smells of great things. I love making Apple Butter, Apple Sauce, Jams, and Salsa’s! Sad thing is that I could really use this being my son just used my canning pot to take out recycling (because it was big enough) & left it out by the trash a month ago. After going back in the kitchen and realizing it didn’t return, he searched but someone snatched it up! So now I can’t can!

    I have ALWAYS wanted to can..I grew up with my mom and grandma and babysitter canning every year! Just always cost to much for me to get started. Now we have a family of 6 and I stay home, so I have the time and help to be a cannin’ mama!! :)

    I am working on emergency preparedness and this canner would be GREAT not only to preserve food to have a stockpile of healthy foods at home but would also work great in our emergency kit to distill water!

    I’ve been wanting to try canning for a long time but honestly have no clue where to start. Part of my hesitation is the commitment it takes to purchase all the needed equipment, and then learning how to do it. I’ve finally found someone who’s willing to teach me, but don’t have any equipment yet. This would be awesome to win so I could actually start doing it NOW!

    I am a homeschooling momma of 5 who is trying really hard to become a little more self sufficient. I grew up a city girl who never had to do much hard work, and I want more for my kids. Canning is on the list of things to learn myself, and teach my kids. (Not to mention, we’d love to stock our pantry!!!)

    Being a small town girl in the Midwest I helped my mother and aunt can and I rather enjoyed it having a garden and having fresh vegetables and then canning them so you have them for the winter it was nice,
